We’ll Sweep Whenever Elections Happen: Sajjala

Speaking out about the new political changes after the ascension of a coalition government to power, General Secretary of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy opined on the developments recently, while meeting party MPPs at the YSRCP headquarters. Here he spoke of the latest debacle that the party has encountered along with strategies for the rejuvenation of the party.

Sajjala praised YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for his path-breaking welfare programs, saying that they were not seen in the country’s history since independence. He, however, admitted that he had learned a lot from the experiences during the 2024 elections and called upon party members to utilize those experiences to rebuild and strengthen their approach.

Emphasizing YSRCP’s foundation of inclusive governance, Sajjala highlighted the party’s practice of collective decision-making, rather than relying on the directives of a select few. He called for unity and a renewed commitment to ensure the party’s return to power. The party, he said, is analyzing electoral setbacks to better understand the disconnect despite the impactful welfare measures.

Sajjala also took aim at TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu, accusing him of attempting to undermine YSRCP and weaken the opposition voice in Andhra Pradesh. He claimed that Naidu had been devising such strategies for months and urged party members to stand resolutely against these efforts.

Discussing Naidu’s re-emergence in state politics, Sajjala remarked that the TDP chief had remained largely inactive for two to three years following the 2019 elections but had now returned with aggressive tactics. In contrast, he noted, YSRCP has always remained connected to the grassroots. He urged party cadres to regroup and refocus their efforts, pointing to the public’s continued faith in the welfare schemes.

Sajjala further alleged that the coalition government had brought back corrupt practices under the guise of “Janmabhoomi Committees” and accused them of indulging in blatant exploitation without hesitation. He criticized the ruling administration for silencing dissent with false cases and even politicizing sacred issues, such as the Tirupati Laddu.

Despite these obstacles, Sajjala expressed confidence in YSRCP’s future. He asserted that the party’s welfare programs had left a lasting impression on the people and believed this would translate into a decisive victory in the next elections, regardless of when they take place.

This optimism underscores YSRCP’s determination to rebuild and reclaim its position in Andhra Pradesh’s political landscape, driven by its welfare-centric policies and grassroots support.
