The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), which previously asserted its commitment to the three-capital policy, is now reconsidering its stance following a significant electoral setback. Despite strongly advocating for the decentralization plan before the elections, the party secured only 11 Assembly seats, facing rejection even in the regions proposed for the three capitals.
Opposition Leader in the Legislative Council Botsa Satyanarayana confirmed the shift in approach, stating that the party is reviewing its stand on the capital issue. “Our decision to propose three capitals was based on the prevailing circumstances at the time. We will now deliberate on the matter and announce our position accordingly,” he said.
Addressing his past remarks on Amaravati, Botsa acknowledged that he had previously likened the region to a cremation ground but clarified that his comments were made in the context of the situation six years ago.
