The “Red Book” has emerged as a prominent issue in Andhra Pradesh politics after TDP leader Nara Lokesh introduced it as a record of YSRCP leaders and officials accused of mistreating TDP supporters during the 2019–2024 period. Initially hailed as a bold move for accountability, its perceived lack of action has disappointed many within the TDP camp.
Recently, YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu openly mocked the red book, stating, “Aa Erra book ki naa Kukka kuda bhayapadadu,” which translates to “Even my dog is not afraid of that red book.” He went on to challenge Lokesh, saying, “If we truly feared the red book, we wouldn’t be here doing politics.”
These statements have triggered anger among TDP supporters, who believe Lokesh has not utilized the red book to its full potential. They argue that the lack of visible action has allowed YSRCP leaders to dismiss the initiative and even mock TDP’s leadership. This perceived inaction is seen by many as emboldening YSRCP members to intensify their attacks on Lokesh, Chandrababu Naidu, and Pawan Kalyan, drawing parallels to the politically charged atmosphere of 2019.
As YSRCP leaders continue to target the opposition with renewed confidence, TDP supporters are calling for Lokesh to take firm and decisive steps to give the red book real significance. With elections fast approaching, how effectively TDP leverages this initiative will play a critical role in shaping public perception and energizing its cadre for the challenges ahead.
