YSR Congress Chief Y.S. Sharmila Slams Jagan-BJP Alliance

PCC Chief Y.S. Sharmila continues her caustic attack on the AP political scenario where she claims the state has become a “hotbed” for different coalition parties. Speaking at her tour of the district during her visit to Visakhapatnam recently, Sharmila declared that the alliance between Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and BJP were “illegitimate” while the BJP-led NDA was working at the national level.

Sharmila questioned Jagan’s association with the BJP, especially when their political ideologies are worlds apart. She also criticized both Jagan and the BJP for remaining silent when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, without addressing the pressing regional issues that matter to the people of Andhra Pradesh.

To this, Sharmila declared that she would hold a Maun Deeksha, or a silent protest, in Visakhapatnam. This is a way of voicing her opposition to the activities of the BJP.

At this meeting, she rolled out poster sheets carrying slogans written on them “Jai Bapuji, Jai Bhim, Jai Constitution” while launching a barrage at the BJP for insulting Ambedkar.
She reaffirmed to stand firm on the opposition platform even if this goes against her long peaceful struggle.

Sharmila also aired a serious critique regarding the Andhra Pradesh future of which would come with the reign of BJP. She cautioned that if the BJP continues to rule, such important provisions as reservations might be lost, and even the Constitution might be tampered with. She directly attacked Home Minister Amit Shah by demanding his resignation for allegedly disrespecting Dr. Ambedkar in Parliament. She further demanded that Prime Minister Modi remove Shah from his position if he does not resign.
