YS Sharmila Slams TDP Govt: Six Months of Broken Promises and Missed Goals

YS Sharmila, the president of Andhra Pradesh Congress, has sharply criticized the TDP-led coalition government over its performance in the first six months. Taking to Twitter, Sharmila accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of misleading the people with extravagant promises in 2014, only to deliver far less in the present. She specifically mocked the government’s failure to deliver on several key promises made in their manifesto.

Sharmila called out the government for not fulfilling its commitments, including providing free gas cylinders, which were reduced to just one, and the promised Rs. 3,000 unemployment allowance that was never disbursed. She also highlighted the unfulfilled promise of 20 lakh jobs, the Rs. 15,000 for each school-going child, and the Rs. 20,000 assistance for farmers. Additionally, she questioned the government’s lack of progress in providing Rs. 1,500 monthly financial aid to every girl child.

The Congress leader also ridiculed the government’s token gesture of offering free bus rides for women only during festivals and the delays in the DSc notification, which was supposed to be signed in June. Sharmila dismissed the free sand scheme as a hollow promise, further criticizing the government’s economic policies, particularly the increase in liquor prices, which she claimed burdened the public.

Despite the government’s claims of progress, Sharmila argued that tangible results were missing, with the public seeing little improvement. Responding to accusations from TDP that YSRCP had obstructed their work, Sharmila reminded them that the TDP had been reduced to just 11 seats in the last elections, signaling the people’s rejection of their corruption.

Concluding her statement, Sharmila said the so-called honeymoon period for Chandrababu Naidu’s government had ended. She urged the government to immediately fulfill its promises and show real progress for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
