YS Jagan started 17 medical colleges without allocating a single rupee!

The state government returned 50 medical seats that were sanctioned for the proposed medical college in Pulivendula. This decision was due to a lack of basic infrastructure at the site. Former Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy criticized this move. He accused the Chandrababu Naidu government of plotting to close all 17 new medical colleges started by his administration.

Reddy claimed that the Naidu government’s actions were intended to undermine these institutions. He claimed that the Naidu government aimed to undermine these institutions. He claimed that the Naidu government’s actions were aimed at undermining these new institutions. Despite this, the Reddy government had yet to establish the necessary infrastructure for the colleges.

YS Jagan announced plans to build 17 medical colleges in 2020. The projected cost for the construction is Rs 8,480 crore. However, his government has not allocated a single rupee for this project over the past four years. This lack of funding has left the plans unfulfilled. No one completed any medical college buildings, and most of the college buildings remain at the basement level.

He spent less than one-fourth of the required amount, using loans and funds received from the central government. The YCP government has done works worth Rs.2,125 crores in medical colleges. He paid only Rs.1,451 crore in bills to the contract companies, leaving Rs.674 crore in bills still unpaid.

They took Rs.3,672 crores as loans from NABARD. The Center has given up to Rs.975 crores. Apart from this, the YCP government was ready to take another Rs.301 crore under the special contribution of the central government.

They diverted funds meant for providing medical treatment to Aarogyasri patients to the medical colleges. Over four years, they paid the contract organizations’ bills using funds collected through NABARD, the Center, and Aarogyasri. However, they allocated not a single rupee from the state government.

The Center built the AIIMS at Mangalagiri for Rs 1,100 crore in just 17 months, making it surprising that the Jaganmohan Reddy government failed to complete the buildings of even a single new medical college in four years.

Health Minister Satyakumar recently questioned why Jaganmohan Reddy, who is suffering so much on the construction of medical colleges, has left the bills without payment. His payment of only 16 percent of the bills reflects his casual attitude towards medical colleges.

The Minister made it clear that Jagane alone is responsible for the non-admissions in medical colleges this academic year. Meanwhile, both the NABARD and the Center stopped releasing the second phase of funds as the state government failed to release its matching grants.

The center released Rs 700 crore to start additional PG seats in old medical colleges. But, Jagan’s regime diverted these funds also towards medical colleges. This has led to loss granting of additional PG seats opportunity to our students.
