The electoral pact that Telugu Desam Party (TDP) reached with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Jana Sena Party (JSP) seems to be sending shocking signals to the ruling YSRCP, headed by Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is making bitter attempts to return back in the forthcoming assembly polls.
Jagan Mohan Reddy has said to be used all his close association with top BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, assuring them that he would return back to power in the state and the opposition TDP is about to `finish’ politically.
The top BJP leadership, which is believed to be shielding Jagan Mohan Reddy from his numerous corruption cases in the court and also economic mis-management of the state for the last four and half years, till now stood like a rock behind him. In a way, providing `moral support’ in politically `demolishing’ TDP.
This has given impression to YS Jagan that under no circumstances BJP will forge any alliance with the TDP during elections. However, the sudden change in the attitude of the BJP leadership and its preparedness to finalise seat-sharing in Andhra Pradesh, has been sending shocking waves to the ruling YSRCP in the state.
Moreover, the BJP-JSP alliance likely to finalise some prominent names, such as former Union Ministers Daggubati Purandeshwari, Sujana Chowdhary, former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, and JSP chief Pawan Kalyan in the Lok Sabha polls. This would become a prestigious task for the BJP top leadership to give a tough fight to Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The TDP-BJP-JSP alliance has claimed that it will offer a viable alternative to the people of Andhra Pradesh, who are disillusioned with the performance of the YSRCP and the other opposition parties. The alliance has also promised to work for the development of the state and the welfare of the people, especially the farmers, the youth, and the women.
