YS Jagan, the President of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), has strongly criticized Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for the state government’s handling of the ongoing flood crisis in Vijayawada. In a statement, Jagan accused the government of failing to deliver adequate relief to flood-affected residents even after eight days of the disaster.
Jagan pointed out that despite the floods impacting Vijayawada a week ago, there has been a lack of proper assistance for the victims. He criticized the government’s response as poorly coordinated, highlighting a viral video showing a conversation between Naidu and coalition minister Nadendla Manohar as evidence of ineffective management.
“With heavy rains and ongoing floods, the situation remains severe, and the state machinery appears to be dysfunctional,” Jagan said. He questioned the adequacy of resources and vehicles provided for relief efforts, accusing Naidu of negligence and poor governance.
Additionally, Jagan expressed concerns over the government’s handling of damage to the Prakasam Barrage, suggesting potential conspiracy and questioning whether adequate preparations were made in advance. “The floods have caused significant damage due to a lack of proactive measures and poor resource management,” he remarked.
He also critiqued Naidu’s claims of successful relief efforts, asserting that the assistance provided has been insufficient and poorly executed compared to other states.
Jagan called on the state government to provide effective and substantial aid to flood victims and indicated that his party would continue to fight for proper relief measures if the current administration fails to act.
