YCP Spreading Kadapa’s `Politics Of Violence’  To Visakha

Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is very eager to develop Port City Visakhapatnam as capital of Andhra Pradesh, pushing Amaravati into a desert. He announced that if he is elected again in the present polls he will take oath at Visakhapatnam only and will continue administration from there itself.

However, for the last five years he hardly concentrated on development of the Port City, but succeeded in spreading Kadapa’s `politics of violence’. Already several YCP leaders became notorious with their large scale land grabbing and mafia activities from here.

Visakhapatnam is known as a `City of Peace’. Hardly people resort to violence. But, probably for the first time it witnessed poll- related violence. YCP leaders attacked a family in Burma Colony as they didn’t vote for YSRCP.

The police, who had to suppress it with an iron foot, are portraying it as a family feud and are trying to water down the case. There are demands to bring these incidents under the purview of SIT investigation.

When the victims went to complain to the collector about the attack, he was not there. The joint collector told them to file a complaint with the Police commissioner. The victims said that they will send a copy of the complaint to the Election Commission and the State DGP.

In the complaint, the victim said that the house was allotted to them during the TDP regime and there are pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the then CM Chandrababu and the then MLA Vishnukumar Raju in the stone plaque installed in front of the house. They said they are running a pan shop for livelihood.

YSRCP supporters after consuming liquor they came to their pan shop on the night of 15th of this month and abused them. A person named Lokesh using filthy language asked them how dare they vote for the NDA candidate while residing in the YSRCP area.

Later, they were beaten severely on the head, kicked their sister Ramya on the stomach without caring that she is pregnant. The complaint stated that some people picked up his younger brother Manikantha and beat him badly on the forehead and head with a nailed stick.

In the complaint the victim said he had 24 stitches for his mother’s fractured head, 14 stitches for his younger brother, and six stitches for himself. Surprisingly, the police registered cases against a News Channel which aired the victim’s version and gave a notice to former BJP MLA and the local candidate Vishnu Kumar Raju for supporting the victims. But no action was taken against the accused.
