Even several YCP leaders are admitting that the liquor scam was the main reason for the defeat of their party in last year’s elections. Jaganmohan Reddy’s government became unpopular among the poor also by introducing several new and spurious brands of liquor, which were never seen before and selling them at abnormal cost.
Moreover, it has given scope for large scale irregularities by selling liquor through cash transactions only. Jaganmohan Reddy completely ignored severe discontent towards his liquor policies. After the coalition government came to power, it had initiated an in-depth probe into this scam.
AP CID claims of securing solid evidence about this scam, more particularly on the key role played by YCP’s parliamentary party leader P Mithun Reddy
Meanwhile, the TDP officially posted a post on its social media page on this scam accusing that, “It is known that there was a discussion in Parliament recently on the fact that the liquor scam in AP was 10 times more than the Rs. 2,500 crore Delhi liquor scam.
The CID investigation into this is ongoing in AP. In this investigation, it has been prima facie found that YCP MP Mithun Reddy looted Rs. 3,113 crores by setting up new companies and collecting commissions”. ’
If the scam is initially worth Rs. 3,113 crores, there is no need to be surprised if it increases even more by the end of the day. Even TDP Parliamentary party leader Lavu Krishnadevarayalu mentioning about this scam in the Lok Sabha sought ED probe also. He also met union home minister Amit Shah in person on this scam.
Now, the debate is going on even among TDP circles whether their government dares to arrest YCP MP Mithun Reddy or confines itself with this Facebook post? Even before the CID mentioned him as the accused in the case, he had obtained temporary relief from the AP High Court.
In recent times, TDP has been receiving negative social media posts in large numbers accusing their government’s inability to act against wrong doers during the previous regime. After coming to power, it has made many such posts on social media platforms, but unable to show its activity in governance.
It had posted on Facebook along with their photos, saying that Jaganmohan Reddy, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy and Talashila Raghuram conspired to demolish the Krishna Barrage when the state was flooded. Sensational allegations were made that they conspired to demolish the Krishna Barrage through sand boats.
It was alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy and Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy were involved in the conspiracy. But after coming to power, the government maintained silence on such several allegations. The same story is being repeated with regard to forceful acquisition of hundreds of acres of land by key persons in the previous government in and around Visakhapatnam.
That is why now, questions are being raised by their own cadre that if there is solid evidence against key persons in the previous government, why keep silent?
