Though YCP leaders attended police investigation into their attack on TDP central office and also residence of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, police sources said they are not cooperating for investigation. For all questions, their common reply was only ` don’t know’, `can’t remember’.
YCP leaders Lella Appireddy, Devineni Avinash, Talashila Raghuram and Lawyer Gavaskar attended the police investigation. It seems that no matter what questions are asked they are giving the same answer. Police officials say that this may delay the investigation.
Additional SP Kolli Srinivasa Rao, Mangalagiri DSP Muralikrishna and Inspector Srinivasa Rao interrogated the YCP leaders. During this investigation, the YCP leaders surrendered their passports to the police as per the orders of the Supreme Court.
While Devineni Avinash and Raghuram handed over their passports, Appireddy reportedly said that he did not have a passport. The passport of former minister Jogi Ramesh has expired and he said that he will hand it over to the police after the renewal.
Earlier, they had escaped from the police arrest after their failure to get anticipatory bail from the AP High Court. However, afterwards the Supreme Court granted interim relief to Devineni Avinash and Jogi Ramesh in the case of attack on TDP office. The passports were ordered to be handed over within 48 hours.
When Avinash tried to go to Dubai, he was intercepted by the police at the Shamshabad Airport on August 16. As there were lookout notices on Avinash at the time of immigration, alert police stopped Devineni Avinash from traveling abroad.
There are allegations that Avinash led the vandalism of the TDP headquarters in Mangalagiri less than three years ago. In this context, cases were registered against him. Though the case was shelved by the previous YCP regime, the present government took it seriously and added new sections.
Meanwhile, former YCP MP Nandigam Suresh, who was arrested in the case and lodged at Guntur jail, was granted two days police custody by the court for interrogation. He will be brought to Mangalagiri Police Station on Sunday to question in this case.
On the otherhand, he is also alleged to be behind the boats crashing off Prakasam Barrage during recent floods.
