YCP goons resorts to attacks, kidnappings on polling day

As the crucial polling started in Andhra Pradesh on Monday morning, at several places YCP goons are resorting to attacks and kidnappings indiscriminately.

They abducted seven polling agents in the Punganur area of Chittoor district. Agents of BJP MP candidate N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and TDP MLA candidate Challa Ramachandra Reddy were kidnapped. Polling agents belonging to another independent candidate were also kidnapped.

TDP agents of three polling centers in Punganur were kidnapped when  they were going to the polling centers in Boorugamanda of Sadum mandal. TDP agents Raja Reddy, Subbaraju and Surendra  were among those kidnapped. TDP leaders said that it was the YSRCP leaders who had kidnapped them.

Similarly, TDP complained to the EC that three agents were kidnapped in Pileru. The complaint stated that they were left in an inaccessible area of the polling stations. YSRCP cadres attacked TDP agents in Rentachintala mandal of Palnadu district. Two TDP agents were seriously injured in the mob attack. The injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Before the start of polling, the EC expressed its anger over disturbances in Rentachintala Mandal of Palnadu district. The Election Commission ordered the situation under control immediately. It said that more additional forces would be mobilized if necessary. Immediately, ECI special observer Rammohan Mishra left for the Palnadu area.

The YSRCP leaders got into an argument with the polling officials at the 129 polling center of Uravakonda Government School in Anantapur district. YSRCP leaders stormed into the polling center claiming that their party’s agents were not allowed and created chaos. The officials concluded that they were not allowing the agents because they did not come on time. Officials expressed their anger at YSRCP leaders entering the polling station.

YSRCP goons committed atrocities in Papakkagaripalle of Pullampeta mandal of Annamayya district. YSRCP leaders are pulling out the TDP agents from the polling stations. There was a tense situation at the 201st polling station as the TDP agents were pulled out.

TDP agents were pulled out in Chinna Gulavalur of Chapadu mandal of YSR district also. The TDP objected to allowing of YSRCP workers into the polling station. Opposition leaders objected as some volunteers who resigned are seen as YSRCP agents in 4 and 5 polling centers in Srisailam.
