YCP Fear To React On PM Modi’s Attack On Jagan’s `Corrupt Regime’

Ruling YCP leaders seem to be in a dilemma to react to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attack on Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s Regime of corruption’, during his election campaign in the state on Wednesday. Just a few days ahead of polling, for the first time PM Modi strongly criticized corrupt practices in YS Jagan’s regime and how it ignored development of the state.

It is natural for any political party to react with strong words if political opponents criticized them, that too during election time. But, none of the YCP leaders dared to even mention the PM’s state tour. They seem to be in confusion on how to react. Their silence is giving full josh to the activists of TDP, Jana Sena and BJP at ground level.

Moreover, the Prime Minister chose to target Jagan’s regime in Rayalaseema, that too besides chief minister’s native Kadapa district Punganur in the presence of former chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who is known as a bitter critic of Jagan. On the other hand, from here only the most resourceful minister in Jagan’s cabinet Dr P Ramachandra Reddy is contesting in the assembly elections and his son Mithin Reddy is the candidate for the Lok Sabha seat.

In particular, Prime Minister Modi’s accusation that Rayalaseema has given many Chief Ministers, but no one has done proper justice to the region, has become a hot topic, as Jagan hails from here. The opposition criticized him that not a single irrigation project was completed during his term in this region.

YCP leaders were jubilant when during his first election rally earlier in Chilakaluripet, Modi only made a passive remark on Jagan’s regime, but he was non committal as a whole. This time, they were shocked as Modi used very harsh words against Jagan’s governance. He said  that the YCP government is not working for the development of the poor and is working for the development of the mafia.

It is known that YCP leaders are getting upset after Ramachandra Reddy was targeted and made comments that he is running a rowdy kingdom. As Modi’s visit followed by Election Commission’s transfer of DGP and also crucial Anantapur DIG, the enthusiasm of the YCP leaders seems to be waning. They are now fearing that Modi’s criticism is a firm signal that the administration is likely to be firm on the polling day to tackle their goons if they try to disturb the polling process.
