As part of strengthening the NDA, the BJP leadership is taking strategic decisions as part of its Mission 2029. The NDA is giving priority to partner parties in key posts. Senior TDP leader Ashok Gajapathi Raju has already been appointed as the Governor of Goa. It may be recalled that for the first time TDP was offered a Governor position and for the first time the Narendra Modi government offered a governor post to one of its allies.
Now, the BJP leadership is said to be offering another Governor’s post to TDP and it was convened to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, during his recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Narendra Modi government has started filling up several nominated positions ahead of assembly elections in crucial states like Bihar, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, during the next few months.
The TDP has been given two ministerial posts in the union cabinet. During the period 2014-2018, the TDP was assured of the governor’s post. However, it was not implemented. This time, it was offered to Ashok Gajapathi Raju. With regard to the second Governor post, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said to be considering various political equations.
With regard to the second Governor post, Chandrababu is likely to pick up a senior BC leader from the party. In this regard names of two prominent leaders are surfacing. They are former Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murthy and former minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu.
Although senior leader Yanamala is also prominent in this race, he has recently expressed his desire to go to Rajya Sabha. KE Krishna Murthy is a prominent BC leader from Rayalaseema. He has been sailing with Chandrababu Naidu from his times in Congress party.
Krishna Murthy’s son was given an MLA seat in the 2024 elections. He won from Pattikonda. After that, KE Krishnamurthy has not been politically active. Now, Chandrababu has to choose one among Yanamala and Krishna Murthy. Delhi sources have indicated that a list has been requested from TDP to nominate for various key appointments.
