Woman Jumps Off MMTS Train to Escape Assault, KTR Seeks Swift Action

A young woman sustained injuries after jumping off a moving MMTS train near Kompally to escape an alleged sexual assault. The incident has raised serious concerns over passenger safety in Hyderabad’s public transport system.  

According to reports, the woman, a native of Anantapur district, was traveling from Secunderabad to Medchal in the women’s coach a man attempted to assault her after finding herself alone in the compartment. To escape from him, the woman jumped off the train near a railway bridge. She was later shifted to Gandhi Hospital for treatment. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.  

BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao condemned the incident, calling it a reflection of deteriorating law and order in the city. “Criminals are acting fearlessly in broad daylight, and this incident is proof of that,” he stated. Expressing shock over the case, KTR urged Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to ensure a swift investigation. He also called on the Telangana Police and the state’s Women and Child Welfare Department to extend necessary support to the victim.  

While acknowledging that the matter falls under railway jurisdiction, KTR stressed that it should serve as a wake-up call for the state government. He questioned why criminals continue to act without fear and called for stronger measures to ensure public safety.
