An interesting war of words took place in the Legislative Council between AP Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu and former YCP minister and Leader of Opposition Botsa Satyanarayana Botsa Satyanarayana. The Minister deplored that Visakhapatnam Steel Plant was destroyed and brought funds from the central government after his government came to power.
However, Botsa Satyanarayana challenged him to discuss the development that took place during the YSRCP government. But, Atchannaidu said that his government had built houses for the poor under the 2014-19 NTR housing scheme. He was angry that the previous YSRCP government had not built a single house. And not a single paisa was given for the houses built.
Referring to Jagananna Colonies, he said that he has nothing to say about it as everyone knows what happened. He said that the story was run with the money of the Center and the state government did not give a single rupee. He said that they are moving forward with a good idea to build houses for the poor. The Minister challenged them to answer how much they spent during the YSRCP regime.
However, Botsa Satyanarayana strongly countered the Minister’s accusations against the housing program during their regime. He said that it is untrue to say that bills were not given to those who built houses in 2014-19 under the YSRCP government. He asserted that bills were given to all eligible beneficiaries and that bills were not given only to those who built houses without eligibility. He was angry that the coalition leaders were just making political allegations.
Minister Atchannaidu wondered that YSRCP members are talking about chilli farmers. He criticized that the Guntur chilli yard was mired in corruption during the YSRCP regime. He said that an investigation was conducted into the corruption that took place in the Guntur chilli yard when the coalition government came to power.
Moreover, he said that CM Chandrababu and he had reviewed the prices of chillies so that chilli farmers should get profit. He said that CM Chandrababu Naidu also discussed with exporters and chilli farmers on chilli prices. He reminded that CM Chandrababu spoke to the Union Agriculture Minister to get profit for chilli farmers. He ridiculed that if chilli is Rs.11,500 in the market, the YSRCP has given a GO to buy it for Rs.7,500.
