The upcoming film Laila, directed by Ram Narayan and starring Vishwaksen alongside Akanksha Sharma, is set to release on February 14. As part of the promotions, a pre-release event was held on Sunday evening. However, a statement made by actor Prudhvi Raj during the event sparked controversy, leading to a boycott trend against the film on social media.
During the event, Prudhvi Raj, while sharing details about his role, mentioned that out of 150 makes, only 11 remained, which became a topic of political discussion. Following the backlash, Vishwaksen and producer Sahu Garapati addressed the issue in a press meet.
“We were shocked to see the Laila boycott trend on social media. When the statement was made, neither Vishwaksen nor I were present, as we had stepped out to escort Chiranjeevi inside. This incident occurred without our knowledge. Regardless, filmmaking is a collaborative effort involving thousands of people. Misinterpretations like this create unnecessary challenges for everyone associated with the project. We urge audiences to view Laila purely as a film,” stated Sahu Garapati.
