This issue related to ‘Visakhapatnam Container Drugs’ which emerged during the tenure of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has finally been solved. The controversy had raised political storms, and it was said that the state government had given permission to bring in drugs into the country. However, the YSRCP has strongly rejected the accusations. The case got much more importance when CBI initiated an investigation about a container that had come to the Visakhapatnam port.
The Narcotics Laboratory after conducting extensive tests found that there were no drugs in the container, and the CBI recommended its release. This politicized incident has finally come to a close. The shipment, which had arrived from Brazil on March 19, was suspected to contain narcotics. The TDP had accused YSRCP leaders of being involved in drug trafficking, while the YSRCP countered the allegations, claiming the shipment was connected to companies linked to BJP leaders.
This case took several months for an investigation, during which time careful examination of the contents in the container was carried out. Samples were forwarded to the Central Narcotics Laboratory, which concluded there was no presence of narcotics. The CBI forwarded these findings to the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Sessions Court and requested that the case be dismissed. The customs officials were then directed to release the container when the court approved it.
With the laboratory results coming back clean-meaning no illegal substances were found-the controversy over this long-running scandal is now officially put to rest, ending any further political and public speculation over the issue.
