This is a sudden twist in Andhra Pradesh’s political scene, wherein one of the key leaders who has left the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has made his entry into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He did so when corruption allegations against some ministers forced the coalition government to constitute an Assembly House Committee for probing. He had resigned from YSRCP and made an easy entry into the BJP. The move is creating wide debates.
Adari Anand Kumar, Chairman of Visakha Dairy, joined the BJP alongside 10 directors and Yelamanchili Municipal Chairperson Ramakumari in a formal ceremony at the BJP office in Rajamahendravaram. The event saw Andhra Pradesh BJP President Daggubati Purandeswari warmly welcoming them into the party fold. She urged the newcomers to uphold the BJP’s values, emphasizing their role in the party’s growth and success.
Speaking at the occasion, Purandeswari highlighted her longstanding ties with Anand Kumar’s family, particularly his father, Adari Tulasirao. Anand Kumar, explaining his decision, expressed admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development-oriented policies. He emphasized that the BJP holds the vision and capability to ensure Andhra Pradesh’s progress and pledged his commitment to contributing to the party’s success.
Adding to the momentum, Vishva Hindu Dharma Parirakshana Ramasena President Kambala Srinivasa Rao also joined the BJP during a well-attended public meeting in Gokavaram, East Godavari district, further bolstering the party’s ranks.
Meanwhile, controversy surrounds Visakha Dairy, which has faced allegations of financial irregularities since the coalition government came to power. These allegations led to discussions in the state Assembly and the formation of a special committee led by MLA Jyothula Nehru. The committee recently conducted an inquiry at Visakha Dairy and held discussions with officials.
Anand Kumar’s decision to leave the YSRCP and align with the BJP has drawn mixed reactions within political circles. Adding to the intrigue, Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ayanna Patrudu, without naming Anand Kumar, openly expressed dissatisfaction with the development, further fueling debates on the shifting political dynamics in the state.
