Vijaya Sai Reddy Removed As Parliamentary Party Leader

Key leader in the YSRCP Vijayasai Reddy, who was responsible for creating a big lobby at New Delhi power structure, is now removed as its Parliamentary Party leader and confined to Rajya Sabha only.

At the party MPs meeting held on Friday, party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy said that hereafter Vijayasai Reddy will continue as party leader in the Rajya Sabha and Mithun Reddy as its leader in the Lok Sabha. However, newly elected Rajya Sabha member YV Subba Reddy will be Parliamentary party leader from now onwards, he said.

For the last 10 years, as YCP Parliamentary party leader, Vijayasai Reddy has cultivated a lot of cult and close contacts with leaders of almost all parties. Now assigning this task to Subba Reddy only conveys Jagan’s decision to further downsize his prominence in the party.

Till YCP won in the 2019 elections, Vijayasai Reddy remained as the `No 2’ in the party, only after its chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy. However, after the formation of the YCP government with the emergence of new power centers within the party, he was first confined to Northern Andhra and later to Delhi only.

Even in all the CBI and ED cases faced by Jaganmohan Reddy, in which he is No 1 accused, Vijayasai Reddy remained as No 2 accused. In the recent Lok Sabha polls against his wishes, he was forced to contest from Nellore only to witness defeat.

Meanwhile, putting a brave face Jagan advised MPs that they need not be worried with recent poll results. He recalled that still the YCP cloud will be more at New Delhi, when compared to TDP. While TDP has no representation in the Rajya Sabha, it has 16 members in the Lok Sabha. But, he said YCP has 11 members in Rajya Sabha, who are likely to play key roles in power balance, besides 4 members in Lok Sabha.

Jagan said that we got 40 percent votes in this election. Compared to last election, 10 percent votes have decreased. Jagan commented that he has faith and confidence that the people will bring him back to power.
