Anirudh Ravichander is in the firing line of Super Star Vijay’s fans, who accuse him of not paying sufficient attention to Vijay’s movies. Social media networks are filled with fans who are expressing their displeasure, stating that Anirudh is giving more importance to scoring music for other stars’ movies.
The primary point of contention here is the delayed release of the original soundtrack (OST) for Vijay’s blockbuster film Leo. Fans have been craving the OST since the movie’s release last year. In the process, Anirudh has made the public announcement of the OST release date for Rajinikanth’s CooLie, which has fueled anger among Vijay’s fanbase. Several think this shows an uneven amount of effort and priority accorded to various superstar projects.
Releasing OSTs in the immediate aftermath of a film’s theatrical run has become an industry norm. The fans utilize these songs to make social media videos and fan videos, keeping the film in the public eye and introducing renewed interest.
Lokesh Kanagaraj wrote and directed the movie Leo, and it smashed box office records and its background score was well-loved. Since the movie’s release, fans have been clamoring for the OST–but according to inside sources, Anirudh’s busy schedule and the projects he is committed to back-to-back have put the release of the OST on the back burner.
Conversely, the CooLie OST release date has been set for September 10, prior to its OTT release, which has further added to the disappointment of Vijay fans. With the Leo OST yet to be released, the fan group is growing more vocal, and if release is persisted with, Anirudh will possibly receive even tougher criticism from Vijay’s devoted fan group.
