Several YSRCP leaders have already been arrested in the AP liquor case, and now the Vigilance, which investigated the Aadudaam Andhra corruption, will submit a report to the government. It includes allegations against former minister RK Roja and her brother, along with Byreddy Siddharth Reddy.
The Vigilance investigation into the ‘Aadudaam Andhra’ scam has been completed and reportedly identified funds misuse to the extent of Rs 40 crore. Hundreds of crores were spent in the name of ‘Aadudaam Andhra’ during the YSRCP regime. In the past, Rs. 125 crores were allocated for it and the Vigilance has concluded that collectors in some districts have allocated additional funds to conduct Aadudaam Andhra sports competitions.
Similarly, it seems that the Vigilance has found that only YSRCP workers were selected as the winners. It is said that evidence has been collected during the investigation that a huge amount was spent in just 47 days. YCP stickers were used on the sports equipment of ‘Aadudaam Andhra’ for publicity and substandard kits were supplied to the players. It was found that the details of ‘Aadudaam Andhra’ were deleted soon after change of government in the state.
There are complaints that Rs. 10,000 was allocated for sports at the village level, another Rs. 10,000 was pocketed and the expenditure was shown as Rs. 20,000. Jagan stickers were pasted on a mass scale on the respective items for election publicity through ‘Aadudaam Andhra’, which started in December 2023.
Now, it is learnt that the Vigilance has stated in its report that the details were deleted before the new officials and ministers took charge after the coalition government came to power. Meanwhile, the Vigilance has conducted an in-depth investigation after complaints were received about the role of the then Minister RK Roja, her brother, and former SAAP Chairman Byreddy Siddharth Reddy, who played a key role in this corruption.
It is reported that several key pieces of evidence have been collected and the Vigilance officials have also mentioned their role in their report. With this, what are they going to say in this report now? What kind of action will be taken against them? is increasing political tension.
