Varun Tej’s ‘Matka’ Set To Begin promotional Campaign with First Look Poster

Mega Prince Varun Tej is in pursuit of a much needed box office success after facing setbacks with Ghani, Gandeevadhari Arjuna and Operation Valentine. Despite poor reception for these films, Varun decided to test the pan-India waters with his upcoming big-budget entertainer Matka, a period drama set in the vintage backdrop around Vishakapatnam.

The film, which revolves around gambling, is said to be inspired by true events based on the infamous Ratan Khatri, who is known as the father of gambling in India. Famous for ‘Matka King’ nickname, Khatri is credited with popularising betting racket all over the country after he moved from Sindhi to Mumbai during 1960s.

The makers of Varun Tej’s ‘Matka’ decided to start the promotional campaign with a solid first look poster on this Sunday at 11:07 AM. Matka has already generated curiousity with its short glimpse that was unveiled long back. However, the film’s buzz fizzled out due to rumours about the movie being shelved due to budget issues.

Now, the team wants to resume the promotional activities with a bang. Varun Tej’s look from this film will be unveiled on this occasion. They provided a sneak-peek with a teasing poster in which Varun Tej’s hands adorned with vintage heavy ornaments like watch, bracelet and a ring are showcased as he holds a cigar and a short gun.

Karuna Kumar, who directed an intense drama Palasa 1970, is the director for this film. Meenakshii Chaudhary is the female lead and Nora Fatehi is playing an important role in Matka. GV Prakash is rendering the soundtrack and Vyra Entertainment banner is bankrolling the film in collaboration with SRT Entertainments.
