Varun Tej’s hat-trick flops incur 100 Crores loss

Mega hero Varun Tej is going through the toughest phase of his career. He scored a hat-trick of disasters with his latest offering Operation Valentine. Unfortunately, his last three outings, if we keep aside F3 ( multi-starrer with Venky), incurred a massive 100 Crores loss for his producers. Before Operation Valentine, he bagged debacles with Ghani and Gandeevadhari Arjuna.

Varun Tej’s last commercial hit was Gaddalakonda Ganesh. After this film, his success graph witnessed a steady downhill as all his next three outings left no trace at the box office. Ghani, a sports drama, didn’t recover even publicity costs and incurred close to 25 Crores loss for his buyers. Gandeevadhari Arjuna, which was made on a budget of 40 Crores, tanked heavily because of its negligible shares.

Operation Valentine is the third debacle in a trot for Varun Tej. Despite heavy publicity campaigns, the aerial spectacle came a cropper in the first weekend and sank at the box office in no time. The magnitude of the flop is so high that the film didn’t even collect 5 Crores gross worldwide. It was made with a 50 crore budget.

In an attempt to experiment with diverse roles in different genres, Varun Tej made an irreparable loss to his decent market. He delivered big hits with Kanche, Fidaa and Tholi Prema. He bagged the biggest hit of his career with F2. He proved his acting mettle with Gaddalakonda Ganesh. But, the string of flops in recent times has pushed him to the brink.

Varun Tej now wants to keep aside his experiments and concentrate on making a strong comeback. He will next appear in a period drama based on gambling which is titled Matka.
