In North America, Kalki 2898AD is unstoppable even after ten days of its release. The Prabhas starrer is enroute to emerge as the second highest grossing Indian film till date by overtaking Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan which grossed just over $ 17 million last year.
By the end of the second weekend, the Nag Ashwin directional surpassed the $ 16 million mark with the combined gross from USA and Canada territories. After a record-breaking first weekend and a stupendous run during the weekdays, the dystopian science fiction thriller gained solid momentum in the second weekend to surpass more milestones.
The film punched out $ 12 Million in the first 5 days and added another $ 4 Million on the next 6 days. After an impressive second Saturday with $ 686K, Kalki notched up another $ 500K ( approx) on second Sunday to go past the $ 16 million mark. The film is most likely to end up with $ 18 million mark in its full run and fall short of the mighty Baahubali 2 which amassed $ 20 million in North America in 2017.
Prabhas will have a rare record as he will be the only hero to have the top two highest grossing Indian films in North America and this is unlikely to be replaced in the near future.
The film collected a worldwide gross of over 800 Crores and target the prestigious 1000 Crore club in the coming weeks. It will end up as one of the biggest hits of all time.
