Festival winner Sankranti ki Vastunnam is clearly dominating the overseas box office with its stupendous run. The Victory Venkatesh starrer is poised to emerge as one of the biggest hits in recent times as it aims to join the $ 2 Million club by this Sunday in North America. Despite facing stiff competition from Game Changer and Daaku Maharaj and getting limited screens, the Anil Ravipudi directional entertainer punched out solid revenues in the first week.
Sankranti ki Vastunnam embarked on a massive start despite releasing on non weekend with $ 380K from Monday premieres and $ 350K from first day. Because of outright positive response from all sections of moviegoers, the film notched up solid numbers after a strong opening. It collected $ 215K and $ 145K on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
In the first weekend, the family entertainer received a huge boost to its revenues with Friday contributing close to $285K and following it up with a sensational $ 400K on Saturday. The overall gross now stands close to $ 1.8 Million. By Sunday, the film will breach into the $ 2 Million mark. As Monday is a holiday in USA, there is strong chances for the film to continue its terrific run.
Venkatesh’s F2 collected around $ 2.4 Million in USA. Sankranti ki Vastunnam is likely to surpass this milestone and emerge as the biggest hit for both the hero and the director.
Ram Charan’s Game Changer is going to incur massive losses as it will fall short of break even mark by a long way. The film collected $ 2 million so far and this is not sufficient for a pan-India film which was sold for huge prices.
Balakrishna’s Daaku Maharaj also couldn’t sustain after a promising start with $ 1 million from opening day including premieres. The action entertainer failed to go past $ 100K on any day thereafter and is struggling to touch the $ 1.5 Million mark. However, it is the second highest grossing film for Balakrishna after Gauthamiputra Satakarni which collected $ 1.6 Million.
