An uproar broke out in Vijayawada with Jana sena party’s vocal leader Pothina Mahesh resigned from the party on Monday, after he failed to get party seat to contest from Vijayawada West Constituency. His severe accusations and allegations against his party and also party chief Pawan Kalyan created havoc.
However, Jana Sena circles dismissed his accusation, alleging that it was out of frustration and also due to collusion with the ruling YSRCP leadership.
As Jana Sena candidate he had contested from Vijayawada west Constituency in 2019 polls and was again preparing to contest in these elections also. Though initially TDP agreed to leave this seat for Jana Sena during seat sharing, later the arrival of BJP into the picture TDP was unable to spare this seat.
As this seat was allocated to BJP, the party is fielding its former union minister Sujana Choudhary from here. Pawan Kalyan also tried to pacify Mahesh. Even Sujana Choudhary tried to convince him, promising to look after his interests.
At this juncture, YSRCP leaders have reportedly provoked him to contest as an independent candidate, so as to ensure defeat of the BJP candidate. After Mahehs’s collusion with the ruling party was exposed, NDA partners started ignoring him.
Jana Sena General Secretary Bolishetty Satyanarayana taking severe exception to Mahesh’s accusations against the party and also its leadership, expressed hope his departure from the party will bring good days in the city. He said that the party leadership, particularly Pawan Kalyan, bared him for a long time, expecting some change in him, so as to encourage a BC leader.
In fact, he said that the party was forced to take action against him a long time ago, when Mahesh supported YCP leader Gautam Reddy’s encroachment of a Brahmin’s land. But he was spared to give him some time, he added.Responding to speculation that he is demanding huge amounts from the BJP candidate to maintain calm, Bolishetty became angry and asked why should he be given money? He wondered how he could misuse political positions like that. He made it clear that Jana Sena cannot tolerate this type of politics.
