Union Minister Srinivasa Varma Assured No privatization of Visakha Steel Plant

Union Minister of State and BJP leader Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma has assured that the Narendra Modi-led union government has no intention of privatizing the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. He said that the central government is thinking of a permanent solution to prevent any future problems in the steel plant factory.

However, he admitted  that the responsibility of saving the steel plant industry, which is incurring huge losses,  lies with all of us. Thus, in a way he cautioned that it is a very critical issue to be dealt with both by the state and central governments, besides management of the plant itself.

He criticized that during the last five years, the previous government had practically shelved  Polavaram project works and hardly any progress was seen. Speaking to the media during his visit to Jangareddygudem in Eluru district, he reminded that the Polavaram project work was being carried out at a rapid pace as soon as the coalition government came to power in the state.

He also said that the center has released Rs. 15,000 crores of funds for the Polavaram project and the center is always ready to release more funds as needed. Union Minister Srinivas Verma revealed that the central and state governments are working with the determination to complete the Polavaram project as soon as possible.

He said that the Bhadrachalam- Kovvur railway line work has been completed up to Sathupalli. He said that the remaining work will be completed very soon. He also revealed that the Visakhapatnam railway zone work will be started soon.

He said that the central and state governments are working to set up heavy industries in the state. He said that efforts will be made to bring the Rs 70,000 crore project of BPCL company, which was planned to be set up in other states, to AP. He said that keeping in mind the R&R displaced people, incentives will be provided to industrialists to set up heavy industries in the areas surrounding Jangareddygudem.
