Union Minister Bandi Sanjay has sharply criticized Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s caste, accusing him of attempting to divert public attention from the 42% reservations for BCs (Backward Classes) in the state. Bandisanjay claimed that this was the real motive behind Reddy’s remarks on caste.
In a tweet on the platform X, Bandi Sanjay ridiculed Reddy’s research on the issue, pointing out that Modi was included in the OBC list during Congress rule in Gujarat in 1994, a fact that Revanth Reddy had overlooked.
Further, Bandisanjay questioned the caste of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, stating, “What is Rahul Gandhi’s caste?” He also challenged Gandhi to disclose his religious background, asking if Reddy was aware that Rahul Gandhi’s paternal grandfather was Feroze Jahangir Gandhi. Bandisanjay emphasized that in Hinduism, caste is passed down through the father.
On the issue of caste and religion, Bandi Sanjay suggested that any discussion should begin with the leadership at 10 Janpath. He stressed that while Revanth Reddy may be trying to shift the focus from the BC reservations issue, such an effort would be unsuccessful. Bandisanjay also reaffirmed the BJP’s stance against Muslim reservations, stating that the party would resist any attempts to introduce religious reservations.
