Union Minister Bandi Sanjay labeled the Congress Party’s celebration of the loan waiver as ironic and questioned the achievements behind the celebration. Speaking to the media on Thursday, Sanjay asked, “What are they celebrating? Is it because the guaranteed payments to farmers for rabi and kharif seasons have been misappropriated? Or is it due to the reduced loan waiver amounts that have deceived farmers?”
Bandi Sanjay accused the Congress of celebrating farmers’ losses due to inadequate compensation. He described the loan waiver as a political maneuver aimed at benefiting from the upcoming local body elections.
He further demanded clarification on why promised financial aid—Rs 15,000 for farmers and tenant farmers and Rs 12,000 for farm laborers during the rabi and kharif seasons—had not been provided. Sanjay questioned whether the delays and the conduct of the Rythu Bharosa meetings were designed to further harass farmers.
