Union Home Ministry Transferred Vizianagaram Terror case To NIA

The Union Home Minister has taken a key decision to transfer the Vizianagaram terror case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). On the 16th of last month, Siraj Ur Rehman (29) from Vizianagaram and Syed Sameer (28) from Hyderabad were arrested by the Vizianagaram Two Out Police on charges of plotting bomb blasts. Now both the accused are remanded in Visakhapatnam Central Jail.

The police had earlier taken them into custody for a week. In this context, the NIA, Anti-Bomb Squad, and the rest of the Anti-Terrorist Squad reached Vizianagaram and conducted a thorough investigation for a week. They got basic information about where they tried to plant bombs, how they planned to become anti-social elements, and how they received funds from abroad.

Siraj and Sameer are said to have conspired to carry out bomb blasts in Hyderabad, Vizianagaram, as well as other cities in the country such as Chennai, Mumbai, and Delhi. It is believed that the handler Imran, who is giving them orders, is currently in Saudi Arabia.

The police said that Siraj purchased explosives online with the money sent by Imran. He carried out a dummy blast in the Rampachodavaram forest in Vizianagaram. The police also seized explosives like nitrate, sulphur and aluminium from Siraj’s house. The Union Home Ministry, which felt that the case needed a deeper investigation with this evidence, officially transferred the case to the NIA.

So far, based on the information given by the duo, NIA officials have conducted large-scale raids in Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi. In this, 20 suspects have been arrested. The investigation is in full swing to unravel the international terrorist links behind this case.

In this context, the Union Home Ministry has recently issued orders to compile the evidence collected from the duo and hand them over to the NIA, considering that further investigation is needed. With this, the Vizianagaram police are preparing to hand over both of them to the NIA. There is a possibility that Siraj and Sameer will be taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency and taken to Delhi at any moment.
