The central government today made a big announcement regarding Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh. They have sanctioned this new railway line in the cabinet meeting for connectivity with other states. The proposal includes an expanded bridge over the Krishna River, upgradation of connectivity with Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai. And the ruling coalition parties have been welcomed with enthusiasm over this.
The new 57-kilometer railway line in Amaravati has gained a green signal from the central cabinet. It is supposed to have cost ₹2,245 crores. From Yerrabalem to Namburu through Amaravati, this railway line would stretch for 3.2 kilometres over the railway bridge constructed across Krishna River. The project is going to start soon.
In terms of railway projects in the Guntur division, the state central government has allocated ₹1,100 crores for this year’s budget. The erstwhile TDP government had promised to start a 106-kilometer railway line that runs from Yerrabalem to Namburu and meets 55.8 kilometers, a ₹24.5 crore line connecting Amaravati and Pedakurapadu, and a 25-kilometer stretch between Sattenapalli and Narasaraopet. The cabinet sanctioned the Detailed Project Reports for these projects, which now brings the estimated total cost to ₹2,679 crores. With cabinet clearance, the Yerrabalem-Namburu line will go ahead.
