Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Addresses Telangana’s Financial Situation And Union Budget Allocations

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made key remarks regarding Telangana’s financial situation, stating that the state had a surplus budget at the time of Andhra Pradesh’s bifurcation but later became burdened with debts. She emphasized that the NDA government at the Centre does not show favoritism toward any state.

Speaking during the discussion on the Union Budget in the Rajya Sabha, Sitharaman responded to opposition criticisms claiming that Telangana was unfairly treated in the central budget. She clarified that Telangana had received its due share of funding, adding that it was incorrect to suggest that the NDA government prioritized Bihar and other NDA-ruled states over Telangana. She highlighted the allocation for the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in the state as an example of the government’s support.

The Finance Minister also recalled that while the late Indira Gandhi contested and won from Medak in Telangana, it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who facilitated the establishment of the railway station in the region. Sitharaman further listed key projects for Telangana, including the Samakka Sarakka festival, the Ramagundam Plant, and the turmeric board, all of which she credited to the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
