Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that Rs.9,151 crore has been allocated for railways in Andhra Pradesh this year. He said that the allocation towards Railways in Andhra Pradesh during Narendra Modi regime has been increased 10 times in the UPA government.
According to him, railway project works are going on in the state with a total of Rs.73,743 crores. He said that 73 railway stations are being developed under the Amrit scheme. The Union Minister stated that 100 percent of railway lines have been electrified in AP as well.
He made it clear that the Central Government is committed to the development of AP in Railway connectivity. He said that the work of Amaravati railway project is in progress. He said that 743 underpasses and over bridges have been constructed in AP in 10 years.
Stating that there are problems in land acquisition for the South Coast Railway zone, he said they have asked the state government to allot other land for the railway. The Railway Minister said that discussions were also held recently on land allocation for railways with the AP state government authorities.
The railway minister revealed that the 56-km project connecting Amaravati will be started at a cost of Rs 2,047 crore. It has been mentioned that a railway line will be established via Errupalem-Kondapally-Nambur. He said that NITI Aayog has approved the DPR on railway works. It is revealed that it may take some time for further permissions.
The Railway Minister assured that the Center is committed to the development of Amaravati and Vijayawada railway stations. He disclosed that the work will be carried out as planned.
Meanwhile, in Lok Sabha the Union Minister answered the questions asked by MPs Keshineni Chinni and CM Ramesh on railway projects in AP. Ashwini Vaishnav said that Andhra Pradesh is a very important state. Arrangements are being made to upgrade the Vijayawada station to international standards, he said. He said that he will give details about Anakapalli station in the form of a report. The Union Minister has revealed that steps will be taken to complete the ongoing works quickly.
