Two TDP leaders suspended for involving in illicit liquor case

The TDP high command has become serious about the illicit liquor case that came to light in Mulakalacheruvu, Tamballapalle constituency of Annamayya district. TDP chief and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who has directed the party’s state president Palla Srinivasa Rao to take immediate action against those facing allegations.

To this extent, Palla issued a statement on Sunday night suspending Thamballapalle constituency TDP in-charge Dasaripalle Jayachandra Reddy and local TDP leader Katta Surendra Naidu from the party. The excise authorities have registered a case against Jayachandra Reddy’s personal secretary Rajesh, his close friend Janardhan Rao and his close relatives after it was confirmed that they were involved in the illicit liquor case.

It is learnt that Jayachandra Reddy and Janardhan Rao, who is A-1 in the case, are currently in South Africa. Jayachandra Reddy affair have been controversial from the beginning. As a close friend of the former YSRCP minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy family, despite allegations that he had business dealings with the family in South Africa, the TDP high command gave Jayachandra Reddy a ticket from Tamballapalle in the 2024 elections.

He lost by more than 10,000 votes. At that time, TDP sources alleged that he did not work hard at all to win the elections. Moreover, there are allegations that he has not coordinated with all the sections in the constituency since the formation of the coalition government.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has instructed the officials to take an iron fist against fake liquor which is endangering the lives of the people. He said that strict action should be taken against the accused in the fake liquor case in Mulakalacheruvu, Tamballapally constituency and an impartial investigation should be conducted into the matter.

The Chief Minister reviewed the fake liquor case with Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra, Excise Principal Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena, Enforcement Director Rahul Dev Sharma and Excise Commissioner Sridhar at the camp office on Sunday. Officials informed the Chief Minister that a fake liquor manufacturing facility was uncovered during inspections conducted in Kadirinatthunikota village near Mulakalacheruvu.

Officials said that 14 people who were manufacturing illicit liquor were identified and 10 were arrested. They also said that fake labels and fake liquor bottles of various brands were also seized. The officials explained to the Chief Minister that they are conducting a thorough investigation into the financial transactions as well as the location where the fake liquor was supplied.
