Two TDP Activists Brutally killed In Faction-Ridden Palnadu

Even after a year of coalition government coming to power TDP activists are at the receiving end of deep rooted faction politics in Palnadu region. Two TDP activists, who are brothers, were brutally killed, hitting them with a Scorpio, when they were riding on a two-wheeler. They died on the spot.

The rivals who switched from the Congress to the TDP resorted to this attack as part of political dominance in Gundlapadu village, Veldurthi mandal of Palnadu. The village is also home to TDP leader Chandrayya, who was murdered by the goons of that party during the YSRCP regime.

Chandrayya, Jevisetti Venkateswarlu (Moddayya) (60), and younger brother Koteswara Rao (56) are key leaders in the TDP in Gundlapadu village, after the killing of Chandrayya. However, the Venkatramaiah faction has been trying for political dominance in the village for a long time.

Incidentally, this gruesome murder took place two days after Palnadu SP Srinivasa Rao stayed in the village to ensure peace in the village. Moreover, while the SP returning back suggested that anyone in the village who had any problem should contact Jevisetty Venkateshwarlu, who is like his elder brother. The SP’s statement also became a source of concern for Venkataramaiah.

Along with a person named Jevisetty Srinivasa Rao (Bobbali), the son of their paternal uncle, he devised a solid plan. Venkateswarlu, Koteshwara Rao, Venkateswarlu’s son-in-law Thota Anjaneyulu and 12 others went to an auspicious event in Nakkalagudem village in Suryapet district of Telangana.

After the ceremony, they left for the village on two-wheelers on Saturday. While the rest of them stopped at Macherla and had tea, Venkateswarlu and Koteshwara Rao left for Gundlapadu on a two-wheeler. On the way to the village, their opponents Thota Venkataramaiah, Jevisetti Srinivasa Rao and two others had already conducted reconnaissance and were ready to attack.

On the way from Gundlapadu to Macherla in a Scorpio vehicle, they came in front of Annadammu’s two-wheeler. They hit the two-wheeler with a Scorpio at high speed between Bhojanveedu and Mandadi villages. In this incident, the brothers jumped from a four-foot embankment on the side of the road and fell 10 feet away. Both their legs were broken.

It is not clear whether they died from severe bleeding or if they were murdered while they were unable to move. However, the police say that there were no other injuries on their bodies. The police did not find any deadly weapons anywhere nearby. The front of the two-wheeler as well as the Scorpio was completely damaged in this incident. Within ten minutes of the incident, Venkateshwarlu’s son-in-law Thota Anjaneyulu came from behind on a two-wheeler.

At that time, Anjaneyulu saw Venkatramaiah, Srinivasa Rao’s driver and another person leaving the Scorpio there and fleeing into a bend leading to Rachamallapadu. Palnadu SP Srinivasa Rao reached the spot and inspected the incident.
