In a significant development, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has served a 15-day eviction notice to Visakha Sharada Peetham, demanding that it vacate its premises located near the Gogarbham Dam in Tirumala. According to TTD officials, the construction was carried out in violation of existing building regulations and temple trust norms.
The structure in question spans nearly 20,000 square feet, and authorities allege it was developed without obtaining the necessary permissions. A fact-finding committee appointed by the TTD investigated the matter and confirmed unauthorized encroachments on temple-owned land. Acting on this report, TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu announced during a recent board meeting that steps would be taken to clear the illegal construction.
Following the findings, the TTD Estate Department issued show-cause notices to the Peetham. Responding to this, Sharada Peetham came to court to oppose the notice. But the court supported TTD’s stand, confirming that the building had indeed violated construction norms and that TTD was perfectly within its rights to take action.
With the court ruling in its favor, the TTD has now officially directed the Peetham to vacate the premises within 15 days. Apart from the main building, there are also reports of illegal expansions in the vicinity, which are also in question.
TTD officials made it clear that they are willing to bring down the encroaching building if need be. The other option is for the temple board to take possession of the building and use it for official or community purposes. The mood is still tense as eyes are now focused on the Sharada Peetham leadership reacting to whether they will comply with the eviction notice or seek more legal recourse.
