TTD EO Shyamala Rao said that during the previous YSRCP regime, vigilance reports indicated many irregularities took place in TTD’s Goshala between 2021-24, and details of the cows that died were hidden. He said that funds were misused in the name of fodder for cow shelters that did not have cows.
Speaking about alleged deaths of cows at SV Goshala at a media conference, he said during the last 10 months many cleansing programs were undertaken and infrastructure was improved in accordance with the sentiments of devotees. He said that the rules were violated in the appointment of high-level officers in the TTD IT department and irregularities were committed in the appointment of GM-level officers.
It was stated that massive irregularities had taken place due to the failure of the IT department and that a broker had obtained the service ticket 50 times. The TTD EO said that irregularities had taken place in the purchase of cow ghee and that the quality of Anna Prasadam was poor. He revealed that the supply of adulterated ghee has now been stopped.
Shyamala Rao said that many irregularities had been committed in the name of organic prasadam to the Lord. He alleged that Rs. 25 crores had been paid for goods worth Rs. 3 crores. He said that vigilance officials were not allowed to enter the Goshala in 2023 fearing that irregularities would be exposed and that former TTD board chairman Karunakar Reddy made comments to hurt the sentiments of devotees.
The EO deplored that by making baseless accusations of 100 cow deaths during the last three months only to tarnish the image of the TTD by spreading lies. He revealed that on an average, 15 cows die per month, and 43 cows have died in the past three months. He clarified that some of the cows taken from donors died of illness, and that it was untrue to say that no postmortem was done on the dead cows.
