Director Trivikram recently addressed the reactions to his viral speech dedicated to legendary lyricist Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry, which was delivered at a special event. Speaking at the “Naa Uchvasam Kavanam” program aired on ‘ETV’, Trivikram clarified that he had not praised Sastry during his speech, but instead expressed his frustrations with him.
The speech, which gained widespread attention, led many to believe that Trivikram was showering praise on the late lyricist. However, Trivikram stated, “Many assumed I was praising him, but I wasn’t. Praise often involves exaggeration and drama, but I spoke the truth. That’s why the speech resonated with so many people.”
Trivikram further elaborated on Sirivennela’s significant contributions to cinema, saying, “He elevated the standard of cinema with his work. A poet is punished when forced to simplify their work for mass understanding, but Sirivennela never compromised his artistic integrity.” He also highlighted their deep discussions on various topics and revealed that Sirivennela had a talent for writing essays. “He could effortlessly write songs like ‘Chilaka E Thodu Leka’. He was capable of so much more, but limited opportunities and the boundaries of Telugu cinema held him back,” Trivikram shared.
The director also expressed his sorrow and frustration over the lack of opportunities for Sirivennela at the time, a sentiment he conveyed during his emotional speech.
