Telugu actor Ali, who is well known for his affiliation to YSR Congress party, has bid good bye to politics. He released a video byte today and informed his decision to quit from politics henceforth. Though Ali didn’t explicitly mention the grounds for his sudden exit, it primarily seems to be a decision stemming the recent developments in Andhra Pradesh politics.
In the four minute video, Ali said he entered into politics after his godfather and legendary producer D. Rama Naidu requested him to extend support when the latter contested as MP in 1999. Ali expressed his gratitude to the ace producer for giving life in movies and said that films have always been his priority throughout his life.
He was initially associated with Telugu Desam Party for a couple of decades and then shifted his loyalties to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s party. Ali said he has been doing several charity activities in the name of his father’s trust and stated that some portion of his earnings continue to be earmarked for these initiatives even till today. He stated that he came to politics only to serve the people but no other reason.
Ali is a trusted lieutenant of Jagan Mohan Reddy and support him openly several times. He was also supposed to make his electoral debut in 2019 as an MLA. However, Jagan didn’t allot him ticket due to several political equations at that time. Later, there were reports that Ali would be nominated as MLC after Jagan came to power. Unfortunately, he was not considered for MLC post.
At one point of time before the 2024 elections, there were reports that Ali might be given MP ticket from Kurnool or Nandyal constituencies because of the sizeable Muslim population there. But, the reasons for not preferring him in the two consecutive elections still remains a mystery.
In the video, Ali said that he never ever made personal comments on any individual in his political career. “I am not a supporter or a loyalist of any political party from now”, concluded Ali.
