Transport Minister Ramprasad Reddy said that 1400 buses have been prepared for the free bus travel scheme for women in AP. The minister held a review with the transport department officials on road safety and said that CM Chandrababu Naidu has paid special attention to zero accidents. He said that steps are being taken to purchase 2000 electric buses.
He said that a decision will be taken soon on the auto drivers who are troubled by the free bus scheme. He said that Kakinada will be developed as a sports hub. The minister, who participated in the first step in the good governance program, said that the largest swimming pool in the state will be set up in Kakinada.
He said that the procedures for the free bus scheme will be released in 3 days. The government is already conducting a comprehensive study regarding free travel for women in RTC buses. CM Chandrababu has already instructed the officials to give ‘zero fare tickets’ to women in the RTC free bus travel scheme to be implemented in the state from August 15.
CM Chandrababu Naidu advised the officials to include details like where they are travelling from and where they are travelling from, how much money they have saved with the free travel, and the 100 percent government subsidy in the ticket. Earlier, CM Chandrababu reviewed the free bus travel scheme for women with the officials at the Secretariat.
The Chief Minister said that all the women passengers in the state will easily know how much benefit they have gained by giving zero fare tickets. He said that software should be prepared in this regard. He directed the officials to explore other revenue streams instead of burdening the RTC due to this scheme.
The CM discussed the issues of how much financial burden has been imposed on which states with the free bus travel scheme for women and how much it will cost our state. He advised the officials to put the company on the path of profit by reducing operational costs. He clarified that action should be taken on profit-making policies and methods.
Chandrababu directed that only AC electronic buses should be purchased in the state from now on. He believed that converting the existing ones into electrical buses would reduce the operational costs. He said that the electricity required for this should be generated on its own. He directed the officials to study the issue of setting up charging stations in all RTC depots in the state.
