As finally Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan declared that he will be contesting from Pithapuram constituency to the AP Assembly and also initiated his poll campaign for four days, the constituency has suddenly risen to limelight in Andhra Pradesh. As Pawan Kalyan was defeated in 2019 polls after contesting in two constituencies and this time he is particular to enter the state assembly at any cost, the ruling YSRCP also took it as a prestige and made all out efforts to defeat him.
Resourceful Rajampet MP Mithun Reddy was assigned the task of defeating him, while his father and senior minister Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy took the task of defeating TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu in Kuppam.
Moreover, former minister and veteran Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham, who was claiming to be keeping away from party politics for the last ten years, has suddenly joined the ruling party and concentrated only on Pithapuram so as to defeat Pawan Kalyan.
Under these circumstances, the constituency is also attracting another reason that as a transgender person Simhadri Tamanna has decided to contest from Pithapuram constituency. She will contest on behalf of the Bharata Chaitanya Yuvajana (BCY) Party.
The transgender had contested the 2019 elections in Mangalagiri assembly constituency against TD general secretary Nara Lokesh. The BCY party announced Tamanna’s contest from Pithapuram. As the party is politically insignificant and hardly matters from an electoral point of view, her contest seems to be only to become a news maker.
She hails from Avanigadda of combined Krishna district and shifted to Hyderabad seeking opportunities in the film world. Somehow she managed to enter the Big Boss TV programme with wild card entry and get some prominence.
In fact, earlier she worked for Jana Sena, but deplored that she could not get an opportunity to meet the party chief Pawan Kalyan. Even she tried for a party ticket in the 2019 polls. As the party ignored her request, she left the party. Now, she is getting ready to contest against the party chief itself.
