The Telugu film industry has been left shaken with acclaimed playback singer Kalpana having attempted suicide at her home in Nizampet, Hyderabad, by taking sleeping pills.
Living in the gated community of Vertex Pre Village, Kalpana had not been spotted outside for two days, and this caused alarm among her neighbors and security staff. When a few calls to her phone went unattended, a member of a security association called her husband, who also did not get through to her.
Sensing potential danger, the police were alerted. When they broke open the house, they found Kalpana to be unconscious and took her directly to a private hospital nearby where she is still on ventilator support.
