Tollywood producer Burugupalli Shiva Ramakrishna has been re-arrested by OU police in connection with a case involving the attempted creation of fake documents for government lands valued at ₹10,000 crores on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Shiva Ramakrishna was initially apprehended on October 17 and granted bail the following day, leading to his release on October 19. However, he allegedly violated bail conditions requiring him to report to the police station, prompting the OU police to file a petition for the cancellation of his bail before the Fourth Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate in Nampally. The court granted the request on Wednesday, resulting in his re-arrest and subsequent remand on Thursday.
The police’s handling of the case has faced criticism, particularly regarding the confidentiality maintained around the arrest and remand details of the accused. Allegations have emerged that the remand report was not adequately prepared, leading senior city police officials to initiate an inquiry with the Special Branch. This scrutiny appears to have influenced the OU police’s decision to seek the court’s intervention for the cancellation of Shiva Ramakrishna’s bail.
