Tollywood heaved a sigh of relief with the change of guard in Andhra Pradesh. This is primarily because of the hurdles created by the previous government led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the name of restrictions over the number of shows and ticket prices for big-budget films in Andhra Pradesh in the last five years.
Despite efforts from Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, Rajamouli, Prabhas and others, Jagan went ahead with his punitive measures whenever big-ticket films released. Due to this, the whole film industry backed Pawan Kalyan and Chandra Babu Naidu in these elections.
Now that the NDA alliance has come to power with a thumping majority, the film industry is in a happy space. As a sizeable chunk of the total revenues for high-budget films is recouped from Andhra Pradesh, top producers in Tollywood are hoping that the new dispensation will offer good support in the next five years.
Tollywood is very optimistic because top-tier actor Pawan Kalyan is a key player in the current regime. Moreover, Janasena MLA Kandula Durgesh has been handed over to the cinematography ministry which looks after the welfare of films.
As per the latest reports, Tollywood’s top producers like Ashwini Dutt, Dil Raju, China Babu, Naga Vamshi, TG Viswa Prasad, Damodar Prasad, BVSN Prasad, DVV Danayya and others are going to meet Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan on Monday.
The group of producers representing Tollywood is likely to request Pawan Kalyan to sort out the ongoing issues relating to flexibility in prices, allowing to screen more number of shows and resolving single theatre issues etc.
The outcome of this crucial meeting will be revealed tomorrow evening.
