The new demand brought by YSRCP Lok Sabha leader and Rajampet MP Mithun Reddy is likely pushing the YSRCP leadership into self-defence. Many TDP leaders are reportedly involved in the fake liquor scam case that has come to the fore in Annamayya district recently. Two key leaders have already been suspended from the party in this regard.
On the other hand, officials are also claiming that more people are involved. In this context, like a thunderbolt without thunder, MP Mithun Reddy has sent a 12-page report to the Union Home Ministry with details of the fake liquor cases, including Thamballapalle, NTR, East Godavari, and West Godavari districts.
Mithun Reddy has requested that the CBI be immediately appointed to investigate the matter and uncover the truth. The Center has not yet taken any decision on this. However by doing this, the intention of the coalition government to bring the leaders in line and to obstruct the government’s aggression and the cases being registered against YSRCP leaders is clearly visible.
Will this happen? To what extent will the Center consider Mithun Reddy’s request? It remains to be seen. However, according to the present expectations, the Center is positive about the Chandrababu Naidu-led government in the state.
As TDP’s support is crucial for the survival of Narendra Modi government, the Center may not have any other option but to keep silent on Mithun Reddy’s demand. If the Center intervenes in this matter.. there is a possibility that the coalition government will bring the liquor scandal of the YSRCP regime, which has already come to light, to the fore.
In fact, Minister Nara Lokesh and TDP Lok Sabha leader L Krishna Devaraya themselves personally explained about AP Liquor Scam, related to Jagan’s regime to Home Minister Amit Shah, with all details. Though ED is focusing on this case, so far the center is not involving much into it.
In fact, the AP government had asked for this matter to be given to the CBI in the past, but the Center did not pay attention. Now if Mithun Reddy try to bring pressure on the Center against liquor scam in Annamayya district, the TDP leaders are also likely to intensify their efforts in AP Liquor Scam, in which Mithun Reddy himself was named as the key accused and master-mind of the entire operation.
