Hyderabad: Workers in the Telugu film industry have called for a strike, halting shootings until their salary demands are met. In response, the Telugu Film Chamber and Producers’ Council have held multiple rounds of discussions with labor unions. Recently, producers organized a meet to address the ongoing issue.
The meeting was attended by Cherry of Mythri Movie Makers, along with producers Vivek Kuchibhotla and Radha Mohan. The producers clarified that they are not against the workers and are willing to discuss salary hikes if the unions agree to four proposals put forward by them.
They noted that out of their earlier proposals, workers had agreed to two in 2022, while discussions on the remaining two had stalled. The agreed proposals included providing opportunities to hire talent without restrictions and managing fighters and dancers without enforcing a fixed ratio.
Discussions continue on the remaining proposals, which include implementing call sheets from 6 AM to 6 PM as well as 9 AM to 9 PM, and avoiding double call sheets on Sundays, except for the second Sunday and government-declared holidays. The producers urged workers to understand the current situation and cooperate to resolve the issue.
