The Telangana government headed by Revanth Reddy is now undertaking an ambitious program where T-Fiber aims to provide an internet to villages. The new service will bring high-speed internet at the price of just ₹300 a month. It will not only provide broadband and digital services but also be extended to rural homes as well as institutions.
The first phase of the T-Fiber project is already underway, with services launched in 94 mandals and 2,096 village panchayats across the state. In addition, plans are in progress to connect 30,000 government offices to the network. On December 8th, trial services will kick off in select villages in Narayanpet, Sangareddy, and Peddapalli districts, including Mandur, Sangupet, and Adavi Srirampur.
This service will function similarly to Wi-Fi, providing both internet and phone connectivity, as well as access to popular Telugu OTT platforms. Initially, 2,096 panchayats across these districts will benefit from the internet connection, with the future goal of expanding it to additional villages.
Telangana’s T-Fiber project is in alignment with the BharatNet initiative of the central government, which seeks to bring high-speed internet to rural India. The project ensures that every household has fiber-optic connectivity, thereby making high-speed internet affordable and accessible, particularly for students who get 20 MBPS speeds.
In addition, state-of-the-art CCTV cameras will be installed to make the countryside an even safer place, operating within a new fiber network directly connected to police command centers.
