Telangana police arrested two top women leaders of that banned Maoist party. While Central Committee member Pothula Kalpana alias Sujathakka is said to be arrested by them in Mahabubnagar, another top leader Sujatha was arrested on Chhattisgarh border.
Potula Kalpana alias Sujathakka is wife of late Maoist Central Committee member Mallojula Koteshwar Rao alias Kishanji, who was killed in an encounter few years ago.
Telangana police arrested Sujatha in Sukma, Chhattisgarh while she was going for treatment at a hospital in Kothagudem. Officials said that there is a reward of more than Rs. crore on her in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana, who worked in key positions in the Maoist party. Sujata Bastar is in-charge of the Divisional Committee.
Sujathakka, also known as Mainbai, Padma and Jhansi Bai have been detained by the police on the basis of some information. Her husband Kishenji lost his life in the 2011 firing in Bristol, Jhargram, West Bengal while working as a member of the Central Committee.
Kishan Ji’s hometown is Peddapally district. His brother is also continuing in the central committee of the Maoist party. Kishan ji’s wife Sujathakka is also participating in party activities. Sources said that they have been searching for her ever since Kishenji was killed in an encounter. She is now 60 years old.
However, it is not known why she came out here as she was staying in the forest area of South Bastar region of Chhattisgarh and was taking care of party building responsibilities. But came to Mahbubnagar for a medical examination? Staying in a shelter zone? That information should be known.
It is reported that Sujathakka is also taking key responsibilities in the affairs of the Janatan Krantikari government. At present, the police sources have not made an official statement about her arrest.
Meanwhile, Sujata is most wanted in many incidents that happened in the Sukma area. Officials revealed that she was arrested while going to a hospital in Kothagudem for treatment.
