Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy strongly criticized BRS leaders in the Assembly, accusing them of orchestrating derogatory social media posts against his family. He alleged that paid artists were being hired to spread false narratives and warned that the misuse of social media under the guise of journalism would not be tolerated.
Revanth Reddy questioned the credibility of individuals posting obscene comments about women and asked whether they could be considered journalists. He stressed that only those with valid ID cards approved by the Information and Public Relations Department (I&PR) or the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) could be recognized as legitimate journalists.
Expressing his frustration, Revanth Reddy said, “We are tolerating this because we are in public life, but hearing such language makes my blood boil. Would you remain silent if someone spoke similarly about your mother, wife, or sister?” He condemned those who criticize the arrest of individuals posting false comments on social media platforms and warned that crossing the line would lead to severe consequences.
The Chief Minister urged critics to target him directly and refrain from attacking his family members. “I am in politics, criticize me. But where did this culture of targeting women come from? This is poisoning Telangana’s culture,” he remarked.
Revanth Reddy further cautioned that if such behavior continues, lakhs of people would take to the streets in protest. “I am controlling them for now out of respect for the law and the Constitution. However, if the line is crossed, the consequences will be inevitable,” he warned.
He concluded by advising BRS leaders to restrain their actions, stating that personal attacks on family members for political gains would no longer be tolerated.
